Abstract
A grid keratectomy was performed in a saker falcon (Falco cherrug) suffering from a chronic non-healing superficial ulcer, which did not resolve under single treatment with antibiotics. Keratectomy was performed two times at an interval of ten days. As a result vascularization of the cornea und epithelial adhesion to the stroma was achieved. The cornea healed within the next ten days. The method is described and compared to other possible treatments. Grid keratectomy presents a promising, simple and cheap procedure for treating chronic superficial corneal ulcers in birds.
