Abstract: 
The study describes the development of statistically reliable reference values for blood chemistry parameters of the Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug). In total, 234 clinically healthy Saker Falcons, kept under standardized housing and management conditions, were examined for 21 blood chemistry parameters. The following reference values (within the percentiles P-2.5-P-97.5 with a probability of 95%) were established: alanine aminotransferase (29-362 U/I), aspartate aminotransferase (40-358 U/I), lactate dehydrogenase (664-3852 U/I), alkaline phosphatase (86-842 U/I), total bilirubin (2.3-7.4 mumol/l), urea (0-8.25 mmol/l), uric acid (0.11-1.26 mmol/l), creatinine (11-64 mumol/l), glucose (17-25.4 mmol/l), amylase (4-93 U/I), triglyceride (0.48-2.31 mmol/l), cholesterol (3.43-7.53 mmol/l), total protein (6.85-44.60 g/l), albumin (5.2-15.0 g/l), sodium (135-187 mmol/l), potassium (1.6-4.7 mmol/l), calcium (1.97-2.77 mmol/l), inorganic phosphorus (0.81-2.08 mmol/l chloride (114-152 mmol/l), magnesium (0.47-1.01 mmol/l), iron (8.54-27.86 mmol/l). The established reference values can be used as comparison for interpretation of client blood results. It should be recognized that different circumstances (method, housing, climate, sex, age) might lead to different results.
