Abstract
This article addresses political socialization from a biographical perspective. The potential of biographical research is seen in analyzing the stratification of life-historical experiences in order to identify biographical dispositions for social and political (self-)localization processes and their connection with milieu-related or historically social opportunity structures. In this context, it is relevant that within the educational biographical research that focusses on education and socialization theories, two different paradigms have developed, which have implications for research on political socialization. The authors argue for a perspective based on socialization theory, which considers political socialization also as an interweaving of life-world and institutional educational experiences. This will be demonstrated by means of a biographical case study.
