Abstract
We discuss the light and strange baryon spectrum obtained within the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter approach. We compare results from the covariant three-body Faddeev equation and its quark-diquark simplification using the same elementary quark-gluon interaction. The quark-diquark picture allows us to make predictions for excited states in the hyperon sector which can be tested by experiments.
