Abstract:
The forensic autopsy in Romania is regulated in the Romanian Code of Crinminal Procedure (CCP), as amended on 1.2.2014, in combination with a decree from the Ministry of Justice. These regulations include different rules concerning the external requirements to order an autopsy and a catalogue of indications where an autopsy should be initiated. Interestingly, these indications partly are similar to those in the former German Democratic Republic, but now cases of sudden death in custody, in prison and cases suspicious for torture or other inhuman or degrading treatment must be autopsied.
