Abstract
Dercum's disease (lipomatosis dolorosa) is a rare and relatively unknown disease. The upper arms, elbows, stomach wall, buttocks, thighs and knees are affected by painful subcutaneous fatty tissue deposits. Analgesic and/or non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs usually have minor or no effect. Here, we report on 2 patients with Dercum's disease, who were successfully treated with pregabalin and manual lymphatic drainage, and another case with application of the TNF-blocker certolizumab pegol. Furthermore, an overview of the current literature is presented.
