Abstract
The special program aEuroOsteoimmunology" under the leadership of the Universities of Erlangen, Jena, Gieen and Munster, is investigating in 27 projects clarification approaches on the causes of inflammatory rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis with the aim of developing new forms of treatment. The molecular mechanisms involved in bone damage and the interaction between the immune system and bone and cartilage are topics of research.
