Abstract
Medicolegal aspects concerning violence against children include a broad spectrum of questions from different legal disciplines. International declarations and contracts as well as articles in the German constitution are of interest. The constitution proclaims a role for public institutions to help and care for parents who obviously have problems to educate their children. There are special mandatory regulations in the civil law, the social law and the criminal code. To protect children as victims during criminal proceedings the code of criminal procedure has special regulations as well as separate rules for police officers and public prosecutors. Special questions arise concerning violence within the family. This article is primarily concerned with the procedural law and facilities for underage persons.
