Abstract:
A cluster model is applied to the description of the ground state alternating parity bands in actinides and some Ba and Ce isotopes and to the description of the superdeformed band in Zn-60. The model is based on the assumption that cluster-type shapes are produced by a collective motion of the nuclear system in the mass asymmetry coordinate.
