Abstract
The Physical Working Capacity (PWC) which was already established by Wahlund in 1948; has been internationally accepted especially as PWC170, reached at a heart rate of 170 beats/min, as parameter of physical performance in children and youths. However, until now a standardized exercise protocol for the assessment of the PWC170 that is of practical use has not been established. The aim of this study was to determine the PWC170 during a standardized-cycle ergometry in female subjects in relation to age and training status. For this the PWC170 was determined in 7.0- to 16.9-year-old girls during an exhaustive cycle ergometry related to bodyweight (1 watt/kg bodyweight method by Nowacki).
