Abstract
Liver samples of red deer (Cervus elaphus L.) from the Hart which was divided by the former border ''Federal Republic of Germany/German Democratic Republic'' were investigated by means of electrophoresis. The samples were split into the four groups ''western resp. eastern populations during division and these after unification''. Allele frequencies of two polymorphic loci support the hypothesis of an immediate migration with gene flow between the neighboring populations after removal of the border.
