Abstract
This papers deals with the work situation of female and male team leaders in software development. An empirical study with 175 software professionals from 29 German and Swiss projects was performed. Analyses showed that women were not underrepresented among subteam leaders but among team leaders. Women in subteam and team leading positions experienced a less complex work situation than did their male colleagues. Additionally, differences in the work activities between women and men were found. However, there were no differences in the psychological well-being of women and men.
