Abstract: 
An 18 month old Holstein Friesian heifer developed a papilloma in the reticulum close to the cardia. The major clinical sign was recurrent ruminal tympany. Clinical, pathological, anatomical, histological and virological findings are described Surgical treatment involved rumenotomy and excision of the papilloma. The heifer was clinically healthy three days after surgery.
