Abstract
After 34 resp. 35 years duration of the Rostock long-term experiments on soil humus formation, the influence of different organic matter contents on selected compressibility characteristics was studied. From the sandy soil of the small plot and the loamy marl of the pot experiment negative correlations between the C- and N-contents and the Proctor density resulted as well as positive dependencies for the water contents at Proctor density. The organic fertilizers applied influenced the tested fertility relevant parameters in a degree that differences in their qualities can be assumed. 15 years after the termination of organic fertilization the grassland showed lower compressibility and higher optimum water contents than the tillage variants. Bentonit application to sandy soils resulted in higher Proctor densities and lower pore volumes after compression, whereas the corresponding water contents were not different.
