Abstract
The precise knowledge of Q beta-values or masses of neutron rich nuclei is still of high interest. As example, accurate Q beta-determinations can be used to adjust parameters of theoretical mass formulas and to predict properties of unknown exotic nuclei. Together with information about the beta-decay half-lifes, Q beta-values can also be used to understand astrophysical processes (r- and s-neutron capture processes). Using an achromatic magnetic electron separator to eliminate low energy electrons in the beta-spectrum as well as all gamma-radiation and a Ge(HP)-beta-detector, precise and low background beta-endpoint-measurements of the short-lived Cs-139-146 and Rb-90-98 fission products could be performed at the ISOLDE II mass separator at CERN/Geneva.
