Abstract
The electronic and EPR spectra of the tetragonally compressed VF62- complex present in VF4 have been recorded. Transitions to the levels derived from the 2E(g) state of the parent octahedral complex occur in the visible region, while those between components of the 2T2g ground state occur in the infrared region. Angular-overlap and molecular-orbital X(alpha) calculations are presented and compared with previous results for other complexes.
