Abstract:
The antioxidant capacity of different chemicals and enzymes after vacuum infiltration was evaluated with regard to a reduction of foliar injury due to Drechslera avenae. Macroscopic symptoms were measured by digital video-image-analysis, expressed in percentage of necrotic leaf area. Among the antioxidant compounds examined, ascorbate and propylgallate significantly inhibited symptom development. Mannitol, diethyldithiocarbaminate, diazabicyclooctane, alloxan, detapac and catalase/superoxide dismutase proved to be ineffective. These results suggest that oxygen radicals are involved in this host-pathogen-system.
