Abstract
The relation of superdeformed and cluster states of light nuclei is discussed both on the basis of Harvey's prescription and in the light of the connection between the shell and cluster model basis established by Wildermuth et al. It turns out that these two prescriptions associate the same clusterizations in terms of alpha-like nuclei (N = Z = even) with the superdeformed states.
