Abstract
A fully relativistic two-nucleon model is developed for (p, pi) reactions within the framework of the distorted-wave Born approximation. The model retains the full covariant forms of the pi-NN and pi-N-DELTA couplings and uses a relativistic intermediate delta propagator. The continuum and bound state nucleon wave functions are obtained by solving the Dirac equation with appropriate potentials. First application to the Ca-40(p, pi)Ca-41(g.s.) reaction shows an encouraging agreement with the experimental data.
