Abstract
Barknecrosis of various degrees and stem-grooving occurred on 20 out of 111 clones deriving from different cherry species or hybrids after an inoculation with prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRV) or prune dwarf virus (PDV). The 20 clones showing stem-grooving and/or only barknecrosis were off-springs of P. cerasus and one clone was a P. fruticosa X P. canescens hybrid. A recent ELISA for ApCLSV showed a contamination of the PNRV inoculum.
