Abstract

1. Isometrical fixed ring-shaped preparations of the Ao. cephalica of Sepia officinalis L. (resting tension 3.5 cN) showed by high amplification of transducer mediated contractory signals a weak autorhythmical activity, which could be evaluated as from small muscle fibres of T. adventitia and mesangium.

2. By pharmacological bioassay using native and synthetic agonists and blocking substances a catecholamine receptor could be revealed resembling more the alpha-type of vertebrates.

3. The potency range: DA (pD2 = 5.69) > NA (pD2 = 4.52) > A (pD2 = 4.30) is contrary to that of the heart.

4. FMRFamide and analogues, which could be found immunohistochemically within the peripheral vessel wall as well as 5-HT-induced vasodilatations in DA-precontracted preparations-contrary to these effects and their positive inotropic action on the heart.

5. The findings are compared with in vivo results.
