Abstract
Beam-foil spectra from 1.4 MeV/u Ne6+-, Ni17+- and Xe24+-ions transversing thin C-foils were recorded in the wavelength range from 40 angstrom to 280 angstrom. A 5 m grazing incidence spectrometer equipped with a position-sensitive detector was used. For Ne and Ar the excitation of low lying levels was observed while for Ni and especially for Xe strong Rydberg transitions (n less-than-or-equal-to 11) dominate the spectra.
