ard photon production in high energy heavy-ion collisions (Elab=200−1200 MeV) is studied. The contribution of bremsstrahlung due to the collective deceleration of the nuclei is compared with the bremsstrahlung from incoherent nucleon-nucleon collisions. It is found that for large systems and bombarding energies above 1 GeV/u the collective yield dominates for γ-energies below 50 MeV but exhibits a significantly steeper spectrum than the incoherent radiation.
