Abstract
Large barley mildew [Erysiphe graminis] populations were grown in a laboratory experiment over ten successive conidial generations on fungicide-treated plants in order to detect possible interactions between resistance genes of barley plants and the systemic fungicides triadimefon and ethirimol. Interactions between Va6-virulence and resistance against triadimefon as well as between Va12-virulence and ethirimol, as described in literature, could not be confirmed. We can demonstrate that for such research objects race frequencies are more appropriate than virulence frequencies. By means of race analysis, the selection of races 22 and 23 under stress of triadimefon and races 71, 19 and 35 under stress of ethirimol can be proved.
