Abstract
Prunus ssp. from avium canescens, cerasus, fructicosa and subhirtella were investigated by means of starch gel electrophoresis on 8 different enzyme systems. Except for malate dehydrogenase all systems showed inter- and intraspecific polymorphisms. The analyzed species, varieties and cultivars could be identified by 5 enzyme loci. Additionally to the presentation of polymorphisms, with a view to a first practical application, we tested for an effect of different dwarfing rootstocks on several enzyme systems of the sweet cherry cultivar ''Hedelfinger''. To this end 64 trees from 17 different rootstocks were tested with each of the 7 enzymes. An effect caused by the rootstock could not be identified.
