Abstract
Strains of the chestnut blight fungus (Cryphonectria parasitica) were isolated from natural cankers [of Castanea dentata] in Connecticut and compared with strains isolated in France and Italy for vegetative compatibility (v-c) type. When American and European populations were compared using diversity indices, less v-c diversity was found among European than among Connecticut C. parasitica.
