Abstract:
Six parameters (ecovalence, regression coefficient and deviation variance to Eberhart and Russell, logarithmical regression coefficient, variation-coefficient [s%] and mean rank difference) are compared in relation to 4 material-groups (over 2 yr 1975 and 1976, and over 3 yr (1975, 1976 and 1981) in 12 environments and over 4 yr (1975, 1976, 1980) and 1981 in 15 environments. Sister-line crosses show the highest mean interaction of 286 while lines with values of 146 hybrids are most stable with mean interactions of 90. Double crosses are the hybrid type with highest yield stability although a single cross has the highest stability. Modified types, such as sister-line crosses, modified single crosses and modified 3-way crosses, tend to the intensive-type, because yield superiority of sister lines and modified 3-way crosses appear more frequently under favorable climatic conditions. Grain yield of lines needs tests over 4 yr to calculate yield stability and to include the different reactions in each year. Hybrids, on the other hand, show more stability. The ecovalence and the 2 parameters referring to Eberhart and Russell are qualified in like manner for analysis of yield stability. Variation coefficient and mean rank difference show serious disadvantages.
