Abstract
Five populations of damson-hop aphids from the hop-growing region of Tettnang in southwestern Germany were compared with each other and with a strain of sensitive hop aphids with regard to their sensitivity to insecticides. The dip-test method was used. Differences in mortality which were found among the populations from Tettnang treated with the insecticides were not significant, i.e., the level of resistance is the same in the entire Tettnang region. The Tettnang aphids provided significantly less sensitive to most of the tested insecticides (6 organophosphorous compounds, 2 carbamates, 1 chlorinated hydrocarbon) than the sensitive strain they were compared with. The slightly delayed mortality after the treatment with 2 new pyrethroids indicates a low level of resistance.
