Abstract
Rachis nodes in pinnate leaves show vascular patterns comparable with those of stem nodes. The traces entering the leaflets separate from adaxial lateral vascular tissue of the rachis leaving gaps that close higher up. Cross zones and annular connections in rachis nodes or at the apex of a digitate compound leaf are interpreted by peltate conditions of rachises or petioles. Over 30 spp. in 12 dicot families were studied.
