Abstract:
The effect of freshly squeezed plant juices and that of methanolic extracts of A. remota on T. urticae was investigated in the laboratory by various methods. Squeezed plant juices and crude methanolic extracts provoked a strong repellent effect in females of T. urticae. They also caused decreased fecundity. The postembryonic development was negatively influenced after the treatment of fresh eggs. High mortality rates and morphological abnormalities were observed in 1st instar larvae, especially after spraying of a methanolic root extract on eggs. The possible causes of repellent and growth-regulating effects are discussed.
