Abstract
Single plants infected by P. lingam produced a smaller number of siliques per plant and consequently a reduced number of kernels per plant. The 1000-kernel weight was also reduced. The number of kernels per silique was not affected. The cultivars showed different reactions in different locations. ''Jet Neuf'' was the most resistant cultivar in all 5 locations. The greatest differentiations existed in reclaimed locations in the Netherlands. Infection was decreased by late sowing. The loss of yield caused by late sowing was higher than that caused by fungus infection. The greatest infection of P. lingan occurred under long day and warm temperature conditions.
