Abstract
D. sorokiniana was absent in stem lesions on stubbles of winter wheat and winter barley from 30 locations of Central Hessia. In 18 locations the fungus was present at 1-7% of the total populations of foot rot pathogens, isolated from stem lesions. Application of benomyl, Cercobin M or benodanil at the recommended dosage had no effect on fungal development. It appears unlikely that treatment of winter wheat and winter barley with benzimidazole fungicides at the recommended dosage will result in a higher incidence of D. sorokiniana. In 2 locations, stems of winter barley were heavily attacked by D. graminea; treatment with benzimidazole fungicides increased the disease incidence.
