Abstract:
Enzyme activities of the pancreatic appendages of the ductus hepatopancreas in S. officinalis were demonstrated by EM and light microscopy. Light microscopy revealed malate dehydrogenase, monoamine oxidase, acid phosphatase, .beta.-glucuronidase, ATPase and carbonic anhydrase. Monoamine oxidase, catalase, glutamic oxalacetic transaminase, choline esterase (non-specific), alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase and carbonic anhydrase were revealed by EM. The correlation between enzyme activity and distribution and the presumed function of the 2 pancreatic epithelia is discussed.
