Abstract
Lamellar bodies of the oocytes of N. barbatulus were investigated by EM. Lamellar bodies are only found during the oocyte stage I. They originate in transformation of mitochondria. During their genesis they travel from the vicinity of the nucleus to the periphery of the oocyte. The lamellar bodies of N. barbatulus probably are of great importance during the formation of yolk. There are no artefacts caused by contaminated glutaraldehyde.
