Abstract
Coffee leaf rust incidence and uredospore concentration in the air were studied Feb. 1973-Jan. 1975 in relation to foliage and rainfall, using marked branches and a Burkard volumetric spore trap. In 1973 the seasonal periodicity of coffee leaf rust was clearly differentiated; in 1974 the infection remained at a relatively low level throughout the year. Generally the disease severity determined the spore concentration in the air. Actual and calculated spore catches differed during 1 period of decreasing infection (April 1973) and during 1 period of increasing infection (July, 1973), despite high correlation coefficients. In 1974, when infection was low, the estimated spore catches reflected the actual spore catches well.
