Abstract: 

The preface by the guest editor of this special issue of Germanoslavica argues that postcolonial approaches to dislocation can be useful in conceptualizing the literary presentations of the forced population transfer in Central and East-Central Europe of the years 1944 to 1950. The author presents the structure of the thematic issue, consisting of the sections Historical and Methodological Introduction, Comparative Perspectives, Local Perspectives, (Post-)Socialist Perspectives, and (Post-)Nationalist Perspectives. The preface rounds off with acknowledging both the generous funding of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the University of Passau, who made this thematic issue possible, and the invaluable contribution of colleagues and student assistants who helped prepare it for publication.
