Abstract: 

In numerous γ-bands of even-even nuclei the odd-spin-members show systematic deviations from the I(I+1)-rule. This “even-odd-staggering” is investigated theoretically by means of a collective model which treats rotations and vibrations in a uniform manner. In addition some aspects of anharmonicities in the kinetic energy are discussed.
