Abstract

In the method presented, here clopyralid is extracted from soil with a system consisting of an immiscible organic and aqueous phase in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst. The separated organic phase is dried over sodium sulfate and is ready for GC-MS analysis. The detection limit of clopyralid using the SIM-mode is 1 µg/kg (=1 ppb) in soil, and the quantification limit is 25 µg/kg clopyralid in soil. The influence of differently tilled soils on the dissipation of clopyralid in soil is described. Ploughed soil resulted in more leaching of clopyralid into the lower layer than did no-till soil.
