Abstract:
MOFs were prepared via solvent free melt syntheses of rare earth metals or
metal halides with organic nitrogen containing ligands. These Ln‐N‐MOFs stand
out due to interesting properties such as luminescence, porosity and high
thermal stability. Luminescence together with selectivity of gas adsorption
concerning different small molecules renders applications as luminescent
sorption sensor materials accessible via a direct influence of sorption on the
luminescence by quenching or shifts of emission wavelengths. New results show
that tuning of the wavelength of the emitted radiation throughout the whole
visible spectrum can be applied and indications on selectivity concerning the
uptake of different gases by the porous structures are found.
