Abstract

The effect of zinc deficient diet on growth, hematological parameters, serum zinc, alkaline phosphatase and blood lipids of growing male rats was observed. The results showed:(1) The food intake and body weight gain in zinc depletion group were lower than control group significantly. Meantime the symptoms of zinc deficiency appeared such as loss of appetite. (2) Erythrocytes, hematocrit and hemoglobin in zinc depletion group were all significantly higher than control group, but there is no significant change among the pair-fed groups. (3) Serum zinc and activity of alkaline phosphatase in zinc depletion group were markedly lower than control group, but the serum zinc binding capacity was lower than control group significantly. (4) The concentrations of cholesterol, triglyceride and phosphorus lipids in serum and lipid proteins were lower than control group, but there is no difference among pair fedgroups.
