Ci.tri.coc'cus. L. n. citrus lemon, citron or citrus, an African tree; N.L. masc. n. coccus a sphere; N.L. masc. n. Citricoccus lemon-yellow-pigmented coccus.

Actinobacteria / Actinobacteria / Micrococcales / Micrococcaceae / Citricoccus

Cocci, occurring singly, in short chains or in clusters, about 1 µm in diameter; cells are nonmotile, Gram-stain-positive, non-spore-forming, and aerobic. Oxidase-negative and catalasepositive.

DNA G+C content (mol%): 63.8–68.

Type species: Citricoccus muralis Altenburger, Kämpfer, Schumann, Steiner, Lubitz and Busse 2002, 2099VP.
