Abstract
A novel structural motif in oxalate bridged copper(II) complexes has been prepared namely a metallamacrocyclic compound of the dinucleating ligand 1,3-bis[bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amino]benzene (= 1,3-tpbd). It could be demonstrated that the magnetic properties of copper(II) complexes of the 1,3-tpbd ligand can be adjusted from weakly ferromagnetic (J = +9.3 cm(-1)) to strongly antiferromagnetic [J = -366(9) cm(-1)] by variation of the additional ligands (e.g. perchlorate, azide, oxalate etc.).
