Abstract:
Online marketing of edible insects and foods made from them offers a wide range of products within the European Economic Area. More and more traditional foods are produced with processed food insects, which are added in the form of powder. So products could be divided into 18 categories. Obliteration of the insects could increase the acceptance of these novel foods. Not all EU Member States participate actively in the competition on the Internet, but from twelve countries (including Switzerland), products can be ordered that have different insect contents between three and 35 % of the total product. The present work gives a snapshot of the currently involved member states and the available products.
