By evaporating an aqueous extract of a KOH melt with RuO2 (KOH:RuO2 = 20:1; at air, corundum crucible, 30 min.) rubin-red single crystals of K2[RuO3(OH)2] have been prepared. Up to this day pure samples could not be prepared. The structure determination (four circle diffractometer, MoK-alpha-BAR, 1 664 I(o) (hkl), R = 2,1%) confirms a new type of structure [space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) (Nr. 19) with a = 803.1(5), b = 669.9(3) and c = 1 061.6(6) pm]. Ru is trigonal-bipyramidale coordinated.
